Competitions through the history of mathematics

A lecture for juniors entitled “Competitions through the history of mathematics” was held at the Tunis Science City . It was given by Mr Bechir Kachoukh, president of the Tunisian association of competitions and mathematical culture (ATC2M). Mathematics competitions for youngsters and adults are progressing successfully in many countries. Mathematical challenges marked the history of mathematics in different civilizations. The present spectacular development of games, Olympiads and contests, is a major phenomenon of teaching mathematics. Vulgarizing mathematics out of schools, giving them the same importance as a sporting or artisanal activity are a way of  upgrading their image and getting them within the reach of everyone.
